Hi Guys! How’s everyone doing?
I’m back in Belgium since this morning /night/noon..What was it again? F**king jetlag!!
I wanted to adress the subject of stepping on the scale each day and freaking out about it.. I recently started taking another anticonception pill and I’ve gained a lil weight ( about 2 kg)..
Trying so hard not to freak out about it, because I know it’s just temporary but it can get a little scary..
Recognize this scenario?
–>The number on the scale is higher than the day before,so you freak out and end up in a bad mood for the rest of the day. Right?<–
The story of my life!!
The scale can be a useful tool in tracking your progress but the problem with the scale is that it doesn’t tell you the whole truth..For instance, sixty percent of your body mass is water. That’s a lot of H2O. When you decide to step on a scale, it gives you a number, but the scale fails to mention how much of that number is bone, water, muscle, or internal organs. So why do those numbers dictate our mood for the entire day? If the scale tells us we lost weight, we’re happy and cheery. If the scale increases, we go crazy and throw in the towel.
Be honest with yourself. You know if you’re eating right or not.You know whether you’re doing good or slacking a lil bit. You don’t need a scale to tell you that.
There are even photoshoots starring the damn scaleĀ grrr
I decided to ditch the scale for a while, weighing myself maybe 1 a month and focusing my energy in exercize and feeling happy and energized. It is far better to track your progress by measuring yourself every other 2 weeks or evaluating how your clothes fit..
I also have to admit I’ve been slacking a bit in the exercize department so I’ll be doing a lot more the next weeks:
- starting my 1/2 marathon schedule
- Bikram yoga 2x a week
- strength training..
